Washington County Free Clinic

Janice is a 44-year-old woman who came to the clinic in December, 2015 as a new patient. She had not seen a doctor for at least 8 months because her insurance had lapsed. Her medical problems included diabetes and hypertension, which were addressed by getting her restarted on her medication. Because the Free Clinic provides primary care, they make sure that people are up-to-date with their preventative screenings and care. Janice was not and was referred for a PAP test and mammogram.

The results for the PAP came back abnormal and Janice was referred to a local gynecologist. He now has her set up for a biopsy next week to identify the abnormal cells and develop a plan of care.

This is a good example of how the processes are set up for screenings and further referrals if needed by the Free Clinic. It is through the kindness and generosity of the United Way that they are able to continue the mission of providing quality primary and preventative care.
