When Sally first came to S.U.N.S.H.I.N.E. Learning Station (SLS) as a kindergarten age child she did not know any letters of the alphabet, could not write her name and did not understand basic school rules such as sitting quietly, listening and following directions, or lining up properly to go outside. Today, Sally can identify 25 letters of the alphabet in both lower and upper case, as well as tell what sound that letter makes. She knows 5 of the Kindergarten sight words and is learning more each day. She loves learning and is working hard to get on green or yellow each day-instead of her usual red or black. The father now has the support of the school as well as the staff at Ely Chapman Education Foundation to help him raise his daughter-as he has no family around to help.
