**THIRD ANNUAL COMMUNITY BABY SHOWER**
The Third Annual United Way of Washington County Community Baby Shower was a success! On Friday, April 15, 2016 and Saturday, April 16, 2016, shoppers were asked by volunteers to consider purchasing a baby item while in the store, whether it be diapers, food, formula, clothing, bottles, etc. When they were finished shopping, they left their baby items with the volunteers outside of the store. The United Way of Washington County would like to thank each individual who made the effort to donate a baby item for this cause. All donations received will go to seven local community food pantries, as well as Eve, Inc., Salvation Army, and the Mid-Ohio Valley Fellowship Home, three of the seventeen United Way of Washington County agencies. A special thanks to Walmart, Dollar General (Rt. 7 in Reno and Frontier Shopping Center), Kroger, and Walgreens. Thanks to the many volunteers, including Marietta College Students participating in Civic Engagement Day, who gave us their time at each of these stores. The event was a huge success proving that our community truly shows how to LIVE UNITED!
"I used to go to the Gospel Mission for food a couple times a month, so now I really want to give back to those who are in the same situation I was in." - Customer at Dollar General
"Our community is so generous. Instead of bringing us out one baby item as requested, people would bring us a whole bag of items!" -Shauna Conwell, United Way of Washington County
"Helping organize the Community Baby Shower was a great experience for me. I loved seeing everyone come together to help this cause. The results were truly impressive and amazing. Events like these make me proud to be part of such a wonderful community." - Kay Shanda, Marietta College Student
"We never get any baby items unless a group focuses on collecting them for us. We haven't gotten any since Christmas when one of the local doctors sponsored a collection for us." - Mary Broughton, volunteer at Community Food Pantry at First Congregational Church
